Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a minimum booking requirement?

During peak season (April-October) on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays I operate a minimum booking amount of the bride plus 2 other for makeup and hair, or the bride plus 3 other for makeup or hair.  This is to enable me to dedicate myself to one wedding party per day.  Therefore it may be worth considering utilising my services for other members of your bridal party to enable the minimum requirement to be met. I’m always happy to discuss this with you.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel expenses are included within a 20 mile round trip of my base in LS19. Additional mileage will be charged at 50 pence per mile. Costs for parking, rail or hotel accommodation are to be covered by yourself. (Hotels are to be booked where it is not practical to travel on the day of your wedding i.e. limited time available)

Do you require a booking fee?

In order to secure your wedding date, a non-refundable £100 booking fee is required before a date will be held. Any deposit paid is deducted from the final balance and is not an upfront payment for trials. Trial costs are due at the time of the trial, or prior. The remaining balance is due 1 month before the wedding day.

How do I book?

After discussing your requirements and you letting me know you would like to book, I would send out a booking form and a contract via email for you to sign and return. Once I have received these I will then send over an invoice for the booking fee, which can be paid by cash, cheque or by BACS transfer. A booking confirmation and some further information regarding booking your trial etc. will be sent out to you once your booking fee has been received.

How many people can you work with on the morning of the wedding?

Generally, I can carry out up to 6 individual sessions on the wedding day.  This could be 6 makeup, 6 hair or a combination of the two.

If it is a large party booking I may need to bring along an experienced assistant. There will be an additional fee of £80 for this, which would be discussed with you at the time of enquiry and then confirmed when booking.

When do I pay?

A non-refundable £100 booking fee is payable when making the booking to secure your wedding date. 50% of the remaining cost is then due at the time of your trial and the final balance (including travel costs) is due 1 month before your wedding day.

Failure to meet these terms could result in the cancellation of your booking.

When should I have a trial?

I generally recommend you book your trial to take place no later than 8 to 10 weeks prior to your wedding date. All trials take place at the Beauty Bar in Rawdon, Leeds on a Thursday & Friday between the hours of 9:30am and 4:30pm (last appointment time 2:30pm for makeup & hair, 3:30pm for makeup or hair). I encourage you to allow enough time for your trial; Makeup & Hair trials generally take up to two hours and Makeup OR Hair trials take up to an hour. Further information on what to expect from your trial will be sent out once your booking is confirmed, but I advise you to bring along any images you have collected, along with a picture of your dress.

I don’t have any ideas of how I want my makeup & Hair, will this be a problem?

I always advise all my brides to have some images available at the trial of makeup and hairstyles that you do and don’t like, which will give me an idea of your likes and dislikes. If you are really unsure, we can have chat prior to your trial and I will advise you on styles that will suit you and work well with your hair, the style of your dress etc.

Can I bring someone with me to the trial?

Yes of course you can, I just request you only bring up to 2 people as it can get cramped in my studio.

What products do you use?

I use a wide variety of premium brands such as Charlotte Tilbury, MAC, Arbonne, Dior, Bobbi Brown, Urban Decay, Chanel, Laura Mercier, Hourglass, Anastacia Beverly Hills

What should I expect on the wedding day?

I will travel to you, whether that be in the comfort of your own home or at your venue for your bridal preparations.  It would be most helpful to have a chair ready and table to set up my equipment in area where good natural light. lf you know the natural lighting is going to be restricted, it would be helpful if you can advise me prior to the morning so I can bring some lighting with me to help with this.

Timings for the day will be discussed and arranged at your trial so you are aware of what time I will arrive and what time I aim to be finished (usually an hour before you have to leave for your wedding, giving you time to get dressed, have finishing touches and pictures). I can be on hand to help with anything from lacing up your dress to fastening your shoes… you just have to ask!

Will my makeup last?

I always ensure your makeup is extremely durable and long lasting on your wedding day but everybody’s skin is very different so how well your makeup lasts can be dependent on that also. A skin care regime will be covered at the trial to ensure your skin is in the best condition, which is vital in helping with the durability of your makeup. I will advise you on products that you may want to purchase to use on the run up to your wedding day to ensure your makeup is still perfect for your evening guests.

I always recommend that you buy a couple of products for touch ups on the wedding day, such as the lipstick we use at the trial and a compact powder. I can provide these for you and add them onto your final invoice if required.

What if happens you are ill?

In the unlikely event that I have any unforeseeable reason, or experience an unavoidable situation (injury, severe illness, urgent family emergency etc.) that render me unable to fulfil my obligations, I will arrange for an equally qualified Makeup Artist/Hair Stylist from my team of makeup & hair artists to complete the agreed upon services for the same agreed upon terms of payment.  If in the unlikely event that I am unable to find a replacement artist due to my team all being booked, a full refund (including the booking fee) is provided.

What are your cancellation procedures?

The booking fee is non refundable under any circumstance and regardless of the date on which you cancel.

If cancellation is between the trial and 2 months before the event date, any monies already received will not be refunded.  If the request to cancel is less than 2 months prior to the event date, you will be charged the full and final balance as per the booking form.
